Trade Show Carpentry

Work on the Biggest Shows in the Country!

The Trade Show Training Program is a two-year course of study consisting of a minimum of 74 hours of class training and 2001 hours of on-the-job-training.  Upon completion, graduates become Journeyman Trade Show carpenters and are eligible for all the benefits of the Union program.

The first year of the training program requires each new trainee to take 50 hours of coursework.  Forty of those hours come during a single intensive week of training, with the remaining 10 hours completed during the remainder of the trainee’s first year.  The second year of the program is composed of a minimum of 24 hours of additional training.  These classes include:

  • Hospitality Installation/Dismantling
  • Special Decorations
  • Carpet Installation
  •  Job site Health and Safety, including First Aid/CPR
  • Rigging, Fork Lift, and Aerial Lift
  • Scaffolding
In addition to the training hour requirement, Trainees are required to work a minimum of 300 hours each year in the Trade Show industry.  Pay rates start at $16.10 in the first year and range up to $23.00 upon completion of the program.  In addition to this pay scale, Trainees also become eligible for health and pension benefits.  There is no tuition for members.
